Course Prospects
This Short Learning Programme will empower you, as an experienced teacher, to improve your planning, teaching and assessing of Life Orientation at Further Education and Training (FET) level.
Since teachers have not received formal accredited training for this new subject, this short learning programme will be of benefit to all teachers who are teaching Life Orientation. It will empower teachers who have been fulfilling a guidance and counselling role in schools to adopt a more outcomes-based approach to teaching the knowledge, skills and values of Life Orientation.
This short learning programme should be taken together with Foundations of Further Education and Training Life Orientation, which focuses on subject knowledge in the area of Life Orientation.
Entrance Requirements
You must be competent in English and have
- Theoretical, academic and practical professional knowledge and understanding at NQF Level 5

Maximum: 12 months
Course Contents
- Designing, planning, implementing and evaluation a Life Orientation programme for a FET classroom
- Professional skills and judgment needed by Life Orientation specialists
- Critically analysis of relevant materials, resources and practices.
- Contemporary trends in the developing subject area of Life Orientation
Assessment
Formative: You will be required to submit two assignments.
Summative: You will be required to complete one assignment.
