Policing today is considered a science and police practitioners should equip themselves with the required knowledge and skills to render professional services. With Lyceum’s accredited programmes we offer a wide variety of options for the learner. Diploma in Metropolitan and Traffic Policing
This highly successful qualification is directed towards metropolitan and traffic officers that want to advance their career with knowledge and skills that are directly focussed towards this highly specialised field of policing.

Certificate in Law Enforcement Supervision
This new program offers those officers that are responsible for police supervisory functions, a distinct advantage in acquiring specialised tuition in the many intricacies affecting them. Learners will gain knowledge and skills that would make them more effective and efficient as police supervisors. 

Certificate in Law Enforcement Media Relations
This new program is unique in South Africa as it is the first qualification at NQF – level 5 that specifically focuses on police media relations. The negative perceptions towards the law enforcement agencies often relates to a lack of knowledge regarding the media. This program will equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with the media in all its forms.

A number of short learning programmes are also offered to fill the need for specialised training in a number of critical areas.

Registration for Learning Programmes
You may register for all learning programmes before 31st March to write the examinations in October, or before 30th September to write examinations in the following May.

Assessment
Students have the following formal assessment opportunities:

  • Formative assessment
    In order to qualify for the examination, a student has to submit a minimum of one assignment, which will count 20% your final mark.
  • Summative assessment
    In order to successfully complete this learning program, you have to write the examination, which will count 80% of your final mark.

The pass mark for this module is 50%.

(NQF 6 - 300 credits)
